Storage
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from acids. Prolonged storage may cause the product to cake and become damp from atmospheric moisture.
Incompatible materials
Incompatible with acids — contact with acids releases carbon dioxide gas. Soda ash is corrosive to aluminum, lead, zinc and zinc brasses in solution, and to aluminum in high humidity. Avoid simultaneous exposure to soda ash and lime dust: in the presence of moisture the two combine to form corrosive caustic soda, which may cause burns.
